Our Story
Thoughtful food. Genuine hospitality.
A new chapter for downtown North Adams.
OUR STORY
Main & Mill brings inventive, seasonal cooking and a carefully curated wine list to downtown North Adams. Our cooking is inventive and seasonal, our wine list is thoughtfully chosen, and our approach to hospitality is warm, personal, and relaxed.
Inspired by the arts, creativity, character, and natural beauty that surround us, we’ve created a place where thoughtful food, genuine hospitality, and good company come together—whether you’re beginning your day over coffee, meeting friends for lunch, or settling in for dinner.
Colleen and Sean Taylor
THE PEOPLE BEHIND MAIN & MILL
For more than three decades, Colleen and Sean Taylor have welcomed guests to their restaurants across the Northern Berkshires, creating places where neighbors become regulars, good food brings people back, and everyone feels genuinely welcome.
From the neighborhood warmth of The Store at Five Corners to the lively energy of Freight Yard Pub, their restaurants have always reflected a simple philosophy: serve thoughtfully prepared food, offer genuine hospitality, and create places where people enjoy spending time together.
After decades of hard work, building relationships, and earning her seat at the table, Colleen was given the opportunity to help bring this vision to life. Together with Sean, what started as a chance to lead quickly became something much bigger: creating a place that feels intentional, welcoming, and rooted in community.
“I see Main & Mill as a chance to lead, to open doors for the next generation, and to show what is possible,” said Colleen.
Together with her brother and business partner Sean, and with the support of an incredible team, Main & Mill is being built with one goal in mind—to create a space where everyone feels they belong.
For them, it’s more than opening another restaurant. It’s an opportunity to contribute to the continued energy of downtown North Adams while creating another place where friends gather, visitors linger, and neighbors feel at home.
“I can’t wait to welcome you into this beautiful space,” said Colleen.
They hope Main & Mill becomes one of those places you’ll want to return to again and again.
Chef Anna DeRose
MEET OUR EXECUTIVE CHEF
For Chef Anna DeRose, food has always been more than what’s on the plate—it’s about the people gathered around it. Raised near New York’s Adirondack Mountains, she grew up in a home where family dinners, gardening, and cooking together shaped her love for food from an early age.
Anna secretly planned her admission to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park before earning her degree in Business Administration and beginning her culinary training just ten days later. Since then, she has worked in restaurants, hotels, resorts, private kitchens, and alongside Michelin-trained chefs in James Beard-winning kitchens, refining her craft across the country.
At Main & Mill, Chef Anna brings refined training, creativity, and a deep respect for ingredients to every dish. Her menus celebrate thoughtful, ingredient-driven cuisine inspired by global flavors, sustainable practices, and the belief that food has the power to connect us.
OUR PARTNERS
Main & Mill continues a long-standing commitment to design-driven development in North Adams. The founders of The Porches Inn at MASS MoCa, FreshGrass Foundation and Greylock WORKS are collaborating to transform 90 Main Street into a vibrant downtown destination— one that brings together thoughtful design, adaptive reuse, local entrepreneurship, and a renewed sense of public life.
The project reflects the same values that have guided previous work by the development team: respect for existing buildings, careful attention to material and atmosphere, and a commitment to creating places that feel both elevated and deeply rooted in their community. At Main & Mill, culture provides the catalyst, design sets the tone, and flavorful food gives people a reason to stay.
